We don’t know whether it’s Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn’s Disease yet. The colonoscopy indicated that it could be either. This is because the inflammation in my colon is patchy instead of a continuous strip. I found all of this out at a doctors appt today that I had to schedule last minute. My stomach has been upset since the colonoscopy which means that it caused a flair up.
To help combat this my Lialda has been doubled to see if it’ll help calm everything down. I’m also getting some blood work done for genetic testing to see whether I have Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn’s disease. It could take up to a month to get the results back from this test though. Hopefully it doesn’t take quite as long as that.
I have another followup appointment in January. If my symptoms persist or get worse before then I’m supposed to go back. Oh and I have to have another colonoscopy in three years. And if I could choose one over the other I’d rather have Ulcerative Colitis.
Sorry to hear you could have either one of these! Hopefully they decide what it is so you can get some solutions and get some relief!
I sure hope so!
