On December 30th I found out that I have Ulcerative Colitis. The genetic test that my doctors had been waiting to come back in finally arrived. It would of been awesome if they had found nothing but we already knew at this point I had colitis from the colonoscopy results. In my opinion I’d rather have Ulcerative Colitis than Crohn’s Disease. This is because Crohn’s can affect you from your mouth all the way to your anus. Ulcerative Colitis is limited to your colon and rectum. You can “cure” it by removing the colon and rectum but we’re definitely not there yet. I feel that I have a pretty good team of doctors that will be there for me every step of the way while we manage my disease.
I’m just glad that I finally, after three years, have an answer. It means that we can get a plan together and learn how deal with what I have.
I also created a new page that has information on Ulcerative Colitis. It has a info graphic on it and some sites that I linked to that are pretty reliable. If you would like to read up on it click here.
