My First Steps in Becoming Healthy

I’ve been thinking about joining a gym a lot the last couple of days and I finally decided to do just that. I joined Anytime Fitness yesterday. I really felt that this was a life style change that I needed to take to becoming healthier. Especially now that I have an autoimmune disorder. I want to do what I can to help myself. This is a great opportunity for me to do just that. My employer also does a gym reimbursement which is an extra bonus. The gym will also be a great place for me to get some stress relief. Life is starting to feel a little overwhelming right now, but that’s another post for another day.

The gym is also a great opportunity for me to get in shape for ski patrol. The top of the mountain is 7500 feet so I definitely need to build my cardio up. I also want to get in shape for work since I’m a service engineer. I drive to all of my sites so all of my tools are in my car. I really don’t want to throw my back out.

I’m also working on drinking a lot more water. I got a new water bottle this weekend that has really helped out with that. It’s nice to have a water bottle that has a straw and fits a little better in the cup holders in my SUV. I’ve also read online that eating smaller meals and snacks throughout the day is better for Ulcerative Colitis so I’m working on taking snacks with me to work. It’s definitely cheaper than stopping at the gas station all the time for some food.
