Feeling Worn Down

Lately I’m starting to feel pretty worn down. I haven’t slept well in about a month and a half at this point. It all started with the Lialda keeping me up at night with abdominal cramping which lead to me being in the hospital for three nights(you don’t rest well in hospitals). And now that I’m on the Prednisone I can’t sleep either because it’s giving me insomnia most days. I have slept well a couple of nights but that’s only because I took Benadryl and some melatonin. But I don’t want to take Benadryl all the time so I only take it every once in a while.

At first not being able to sleep wasn’t that big of a deal. I was able to function pretty well during the day even though I felt tired but now it’s getting a lot worse. And I don’t want to take naps during the day because then I can’t sleep at night 🙁 I’m probably going to try some sleepy time tea along with melatonin before bed. Hopefully it helps some.

I’ll be off of the Prednisone on the 9th of February so hopefully I’ll start sleeping better while I’m on the Budesonide. I really don’t want to have to start taking sleeping pills. Some of the side effects of those are pretty scary. I do have a three day weekend this weekend so I’m hoping to catch up on some sleep then even if it means taking some naps.

My TB test came back negative today. I had to go in to the doctors office to have my doctors assistant look at the injection site and it’s all clear. I also got blood work drawn for the Prometheus TPMT Genetics test done. We should have the results back within a week or two. I probably won’t know anything about it until I go back to my doctors on the 17th.

  1. I hear you. The fatigue has been one of the hardest symptoms to manage when I’m not in a major flare. I hope you’re able to sleep better once you’re off the prednisone.
